Details:

The Fluke 88 V/A KIT Automotive Multimeter Combo Kit comes with the 88 Series V automotive multimeter, silicone test leads, alligator clips, test probes, inductive RPM pick-up probe, ToolPak magnetic meter hanging kit, temperature probe, two automotive backprobe pins, insulation piercing probe, and a durable carrying case. The digital multimeter (also known as a multitester) is designed for use in high energy environments such as those found on hybrid vehicles and measures AC/DC voltage up to 1,000V, AC/DC current to 10 amp (20 amp for a maximum of 30 seconds), frequency to 200 kilohertz, resistance to 50 megaohms, capacitance to 9,999 microfarads, temperature from -200 to +1090 degrees C (-328 to +1994 degrees F) and includes continuity and diode tests. The 6,000-count resolution, 3-3/4 digit digital display has a bright white backlight for readability in low-light conditions with a 4-1/2 digit mode for precise measurements and displays an analog bar graph which is useful for fast-changing or unstable signals. The meter performs millisecond pulse width measurements for fuel injectors and has Min./Max.-Average recording as well as a Min./Max. Alert to automatically capture variations. A duty cycle indicates the percentage of time a signal is above or below the trigger level during one cycle and a peak capture function detects intermittent problems and transients as low as 250 microseconds. The meter has both manual- and auto-ranging modes for user flexibility, and an auto-hold function to capture stable readings. The relative mode removes test lead resistance from low ohms measurements. This meter is safety rated for Category III up to 1000V and Category IV up to 600V and can withstand hazardous volt spikes in excess of 8,000V to reduce risks of spikes and surges caused by load switching and faults on industrial circuits. It uses a 9V battery (installed) that has a battery life of approximately 400 hours without backlight and has a selectable sleep mode to maximize battery life. The meter measures 20.1 x 9.8 x 5.2 cm (H x W x D) and weighs 22 oz. (624 g). (H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.)

The ToolPack Hanging Kit includes a universal hanger, magnet, and 17" (23 cm) hanger strap for hands-free operation. SureGrip alligator clips are insulated and nickel-plated for gripping objects up to 3/8" (9.5mm). SureGrip silicone test leads have 1.5 m (4.9') silicone-insulated wire to resist heat and cold. All included SureGrip accessories are rated for Category III up to 1000V and Category IV up to 600V.

Multimeters are electrical test meters that measure multiple properties of an electrical circuit, such as current, voltage, resistance, capacitance, and continuity. Available in handheld or benchtop models, multimeters diagnose electrical problems in electrical equipment, wiring, and power supplies. A variety of probes, clamps, and leads can be used to connect the meter to a circuit or device. Multimeters display information either in analog or digital form. Factors that influence meter choice include the electrical properties to be measured, the anticipated range of results, and the desired level of protection against transient voltage. Safety ratings are based on International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards for low-voltage test equipment. IEC 61010 delineates four overvoltage installation categories. In general, a meter with a category IV rating will provide more protection against transient voltages than a meter with a lower category rating.

Fluke Corporation manufactures electrical testing tools and software for industrial and commercial applications. The company, founded in 1948, is headquartered in Everett, WA.
