Sometimes your La Crosse base station may lose the connection to your external sensor. This can be caused by a number of things.
Batteries: Always use an alkaline or lithium battery. General purpose batteries will tend to have a very short lifespan. While alkaline batteries are less expensive and work well in most situations, lithium batteries have a longer lifespan and will work in extreme cold better than alkaline batteries.
Positioning: While under ideal conditions, you can locate the sensor as much as 200 to 300 feet from your base station and maintain a stable connection, most often the conditions are not ideal.
Keep in mind that the sensor should not be exposed to direct sunlight and should be kept in a reasonably protected location. It's made to withstand some rain and moisture, but generally speaking, the less protected it is, the shorter the life of the sensor will be.
Walls and other obstructions will decrease the possible range between your base station and your sensor. Metal walls will greatly impact the range. Ideally, have the sensor located near a window that's close to the base station, keeping in mind the exposures outlined above. If one location does not work well, trying a new location often helps.
In the event you still can't get a connection, please try the following procedure to sync your sensor:
